Greazefest
Greazefest was killer this year folks. Shit, it always is!
This year the Greazefest | Kustom Kulture Festival was held at the new venue at Rocklea Showground, and in our opinion was a total success. The bands were red hot & the weather was great as the rain held out for Sunday, so we were all stoked!
We got in to Brisbane on Saturday arvo, so unfortunately we missed The Detonators and all the other bands on Friday night, which we heard had lit up the stage, but we did manage to catch most of Saturday night. We arrived just in time to see Benny & The Fly-by-Niters, and Benny and the boys were ripping as usual! Next up was Deke Dickerson & The Ecco-Fonics! I’ve learnt so much from Deke over the yrs, so I was pretty damn keen to see him and the boys light it on fire!
Another thing Deke taught me, is all about the KFC Double-Down. Two bits of chicken with just cheese an hot sauce. There’s so much meat that there is no need for a bun. Now that’s the go!!!!
So after all the KFC talk, Deke and the boys got up and knocked everyone’s socks off with his set! Then he got up at the end of ours set and jammed the last few songs. Bloody good times!!!
After such a awesome Saturday night, the Sunday was a good wind down,
We lobbed in early to catch Jon’s new band Jon Flynn’s Knights of Sin and to show them some ‘bro-mantic’ support for their first ever set! The night before, Jon mentioned he was a wee bit nervous, but dang, he had nothing to worry about. The boys nailed it!
The we caught The Sugarshakers, who also put on a killer set on the outdoor stage. Teresa and Paulie then tore it up inside later on in the day.
We all had a few beers an got a bit loose in the arvo. Mimsy tattooed a flamingo on Amanda, and we all then renewed our love for the Sizzlers restaurant. That’s damn fine cheese bread they’ve got!! Sooo good!!
The Monday morning at the airport was insane! There were people bloody everywhere. I think all the flights were delayed, but we jagged a free feed on Qantas, so in the end it was all good!
Another awesome year at Greazefest wrapped up nicely. A big thanks to our good buddy Lori Lee for putting on the event. Folk if you get a chance, get to Greazefest next year. You’ll be kicking yourself again if you don’t!
